ESI (Employee State Insurance), PF (Provident Fund), and PT (Professional Tax) registrations are essential social security measures in India for employees and employers.

ESI Registration:

ESI is a health insurance scheme for employees. Employers with more than 10 employees earning a salary up to a specified limit must register for ESI. Both employers and employees contribute to the ESI fund, providing medical benefits and financial assistance during illness.

Eligibility:

1. Number of Employees:

Establishments or industries with ten or more workers are subject to ESI (20 or more in certain states/union regions).

2. Maximum Salary:

Workers who receive a monthly income or wage of up to Rs. 21,000 are covered by ESI. Workers who make more than this amount are not required to contribute to ESI.

Process:

1. Determine Applicability:

ESI is applicable to employers having 10 or more employees (in certain states, the threshold may be 20 employees) and whose monthly wages are up to a specified limit.

2. Obtain Employer Identification Number (ESI Code):

Apply for and obtain the Employer Identification Number (ESI Code) from the Regional Office of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) based on the location of the business

3. Documentation:

Prepare and submit the required documents, including the company’s PAN, list of employees, address proof, and other relevant details.

4. Online Registration::

Visit the official ESIC portal (https://www.esic.in/) and navigate to the ‘Employer’ section.
-Fill in the online application form with accurate details and upload the necessary documents.

 

5. Verification and Approval:

• The Regional ESIC office will verify the application and documents submitted.
• Upon successful verification, the ESI Code will be issued, and the employer will be informed

6. Display of ESI Notice:

Display the ESI Notice at a prominent place within the workplace, informing employees about their rights and benefits under the ESI Act.
